Retina Display
The next generation iPhone has Retina Display which has four times the pixel density of the iPhone 3GS for an extremely sharp display and high resolution phone screen. Apple even claims the pixel count is so good that the human eye cannot distinguish between pixels making text and images magazine quality. The touchscreen is 3.5-inches which is ideal for using apps, watching videos and looking at photos.
New Operating System
The iPhone 4 will run on Apple's new operating system - the iOS4 – with its multitasking, improved folder management and unified inbox capabilities. It also allows you to move apps between devices so you can access apps and downloads on your iPad and your iPhone. The new approach to multitasking has been devised to help save your phone's battery.
Camera
The iPhone 4 has a five-megapixel camera with 5x zoom and an LED flash - the backside illumination sensor takes great pictures even in low light. And there's a new front-facing camera for when you want to be on the photo too.
There's also a HD video recorder (720p) that shoots up to 30 frames per second with audio. You can edit your films with the new iMovie app. Both cameras have geotagging and tap to focus.
Face Time
Face Time makes video calling possible on the iPhone. With just a tap you can see and speak to your family and friends, wherever they are. Face Time only works from iPhone 4 to iPhone 4 and over Wi-Fi.
Great battery and processor
The battery on the iPhone 4 is 40% bigger than that on the iPhone 3GS. The phone also has an Apple A4 chip 1 GHz processor, just like the iPad has. The iPhone 4 has 300 hours standby time, 40 hours music play, 10 hours video play and Wi-Fi browsing, six hours 3G browsing and seven hours 3G talk time.
Apps
There are thousands of great apps to discover in the app store with more being added all the time. These include iBooks, an eBook reader and bookshop which are PDF-friendly, and iMovies, a brilliant app for editing videos and adding themes and music.
Music
The iPhone 4 has to be THE music phone with its iPod functionality allowing you to tap to play your music and watch great quality video. There's also the iTunes store – a huge digital entertainment store.
